Biography

Yannick Nézet-Séguin, born March 6, 1975, in Montreal, is a Canadian conductor and pianist. He serves as the music director of the Orchestre Métropolitain (Montreal), the Metropolitan Opera (New York City), and the Philadelphia Orchestra. He was the principal conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra from 2008 to 2018. Nézet-Séguin has also conducted operas at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, succeeding James Levine as music director in 2018. Recognized as a rising star in the conducting world, he has received numerous awards, including an honorary doctorate from McGill University in 2017. He is set to conduct the Vienna Philharmonic's New Year's Concert in 2026.
