The Montreal Symphony Orchestra (French: Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, or OSM) is a Canadian symphony orchestra based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Founded in 1934 by Antonia Nantel, Wilfrid Pelletier, and Athanase David, the OSM is recognized by BBC Music Magazine as one of the world's greatest orchestras and plays a leading role in Quebec and Canadian musical life. The orchestra is in residence at the Montreal Symphony House and hosts renowned conductors and soloists from around the globe. Since 2022, Venezuelan conductor Rafael Payare has served as the music director, becoming the ninth music director of the OSM.
