Les Cowboys Fringants are a Québécois folk rock band formed in 1997 in Repentigny, Quebec. The band is known for its commitment to Quebec independence and environmental issues, which has garnered them a large following. With over 1.3 million albums sold across the Francophonie, they are considered one of the most influential groups in Quebec's music and culture. All members contribute to the songwriting, although Jean-François Pauzé is the primary lyricist. In 2006, the band established the 'Cowboys Fringants' foundation to protect portions of Quebec's territory. Throughout their career, they have released 12 studio albums and won seven Félix Awards for 'Group or Duo of the Year,' making them the most awarded group in this category.
