His music career began in the 1970s with the duo Les Séguin, alongside his twin sister Marie-Claire. The duo achieved considerable success in Québec, particularly with their folk rendition of Félix Leclerc's 'Le train du nord.' Séguin has been a solo artist since 1979, often collaborating with his sister on her solo projects.
