Biography

Leif Vollebekk is a Canadian indie folk singer-songwriter, originally from Ottawa, Ontario, born in 1985. He studied philosophy in Iceland and later moved to Montreal to pursue his musical career. A multi-instrumentalist, Vollebekk is signed to Secret City Records since his third album, Twin Solitude. He has toured with artists such as Karkwa, Cœur de pirate, Émilie Simon, Daniel Lanois, Gregory Alan Isakov, Patrick Watson, and Sinéad O'Connor. In 2014, he collaborated with Stéphanie Lapointe, with his voice compared to that of Jeff Buckley. He also worked with Julien Sagot on his debut solo album, Piano Mal. His albums Twin Solitudes and New Ways were longlisted for the Polaris Music Prize in 2017 and 2020 respectively. He cites Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan as inspirations.
