Biography
Mary Jane Bunnett, born October 22, 1956, in Toronto, is a Canadian musician and educator. A soprano saxophonist, flautist, and bandleader, she is especially known for performing Afro-Cuban jazz. She regularly travels to Cuba to perform with Cuban musicians. In 1990, she toured Australia and New Zealand with her quartet and Quebec jazz musician Jean Bernard Beaudet. In 2004, she was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada, and in 2006, she received an honorary doctorate from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario.
