Godspeed You! Black Emperor (sometimes shortened to GY!BE or Godspeed) is a Canadian post-rock collective founded in Montreal, Quebec in 1994. They are associated with the independent label Constellation Records. The group released their debut album F♯ A♯ ∞ in 1997 and toured regularly until 2003. That year, they announced an indefinite hiatus, leading to rumors of a breakup. However, they reformed in 2010 and have since released several albums, including 'Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend! in 2012, which won the Polaris Music Prize in 2013. Their compositions are noted for their symphonic construction and dystopian themes.
