Gilles Vigneault (born 27 October 1928) is a Canadian poet, publisher, singer-songwriter, and a prominent figure in Quebec nationalism and sovereignty. He was born in Natashquan and studied in Rimouski and Quebec City. Influenced by poets like Pierre de Ronsard and Victor Hugo, he became a poet and storyteller, often depicting the people and landscape of Natashquan. Vigneault is a staunch advocate for Quebec's sovereignty and the French language. His songs, particularly "Mon pays" and "Gens du pays", are considered unofficial anthems of Quebec.
