Félix Leclerc (August 2, 1914 – August 8, 1988) was a Québécois singer-songwriter, poet, writer, actor, and political activist. He was a pioneer of Québécois poetic song, with works closely tied to nature and territory. He advocated for Quebec's independence and the defense of the French language. Leclerc achieved significant success in France in the early 1950s and helped establish Quebec as a francophone region with its own culture. A leading figure in the popular chanson movement, he inspired artists such as Georges Brassens and Jacques Brel. The Félix Awards, established in 1979, honor his contributions to Quebec music.
