Cowboy Junkies are an alternative country and folk rock band formed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1985. The band consists of Margo Timmins (vocals), Michael Timmins (guitar), Peter Timmins (drums), and Alan Anton (bass). They recorded their debut album, 'Whites Off Earth Now!!', in 1986 in their garage. Their second album, 'The Trinity Session', released in 1988, received critical acclaim and helped establish their reputation, particularly due to its recording in a church using an ambisonic microphone. Over the years, Cowboy Junkies have released 16 studio albums and five live albums, continuing to evolve while maintaining a loyal fan base.
