Avril Ramona Lavigne (born September 27, 1984) is a Canadian singer and songwriter. She gained fame in the early 2000s, selling over 40 million albums and 50 million singles worldwide. At 16, she signed a two-album contract with Arista Records. Her debut album, Let Go (2002), is the best-selling album of the 21st century by a Canadian artist, featuring hits like Complicated and Sk8er Boi. Her second album, Under My Skin (2004), topped the Billboard 200 and sold 10 million copies. The Best Damn Thing (2007) achieved international success with the single Girlfriend. Her subsequent albums, Goodbye Lullaby (2011) and Avril Lavigne (2013), also saw commercial success. In 2019, she released Head Above Water, marking her return to music.
