Aerosmith Returns Strong with Dave Grohl on Drums

Aerosmith marked its return to the stage after three years of absence with two exceptional concerts at the Hollywood Bowl in California on October 29 and November 1. These performances, titled 'California, Dream On: Aerosmith & Friends', saw the legendary band surrounded by a host of stars, with Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters on drums for most of the songs.

On the first night, the audience enjoyed performances from artists such as Eric Church, Heart, Billy Idol, Sammy Hagar, and Sully Erna from Godsmack. The Black Crowes performed four Aerosmith songs, while Guns N' Roses provided direct support by playing several covers of the band. The show culminated with Aerosmith performing classics like 'Toys in the Attic' and 'Dream On', with Johnny Depp as a surprise guest on guitar for 'The Train Kept A-Rollin'.

The second night was also rich in collaborations, with Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine and Lzzy Hale from Halestorm covering 'Kings And Queens' and 'Round And Round'. Jerry Cantrell and Mike Inez from Alice In Chains joined Richie Kotzen for covers of 'Draw The Line' and 'Nobody’s Fault'. The band closed with a performance of 'Come Together' by the Beatles, without the participation of Depp and Grohl, replaced by drummer John Douglas.

The Pixies Unveil Hidden Treasures from Their Archives

The legendary alternative rock band Pixies recently released four unreleased tracks dating from the time of their albums 'Bossanova' and 'Trompe le Monde'. These tracks, spanning the period from 1987 to 1991, are now available on all streaming platforms. Josh Homme Reinterprets Iggy Pop with Queens Of The Stone Age

Josh Homme, the leader of Queens Of The Stone Age, recently discussed the reinterpretation of 'Sunday', a collaboration with Iggy Pop, on the band's new album, 'Perfecth'. Released on October 30 via Matador, this album also includes the singles 'Where The Goth Girls At?', 'Insignificant Other', and 'Easy Street'. 'Sunday', originally featured on Iggy Pop's 2016 album 'Post Pop Depression', brought together Iggy Pop, Dean Fertita of QOTSA, and Matt Helders of Arctic Monkeys. Homme expressed his attachment to this track, stating that he had considered keeping it for himself before sharing it with Iggy Pop.

In discussing the reinterpretation of 'Sunday', Homme compared this approach to that of David Bowie with 'China Girl', a song co-written with Iggy Pop and later reworked by Bowie. Although Iggy Pop gave his blessing for this new version, Homme emphasizes that these collaborations happen naturally and cannot be forced. 'Perfecth' thus marks a new stage in the career of Queens Of The Stone Age while paying homage to the legacy of Iggy Pop, an iconic figure in rock and roll.
