Bruce Douglas Cockburn (KOH-bərn; born May 27, 1945, in Ottawa) is a Canadian singer-songwriter and guitarist. A member of the Order of Canada, he is known for his music styles ranging from folk to jazz-influenced rock. His lyrics cover a wide array of topics, including human rights, environmental issues, politics, and Christianity. Over his career spanning more than 55 years, Cockburn has written over 350 songs across 34 albums, with 22 achieving Canadian gold or platinum certification. He has sold more than one million albums in Canada alone. In 2014, he released his memoirs, Rumours of Glory, and in 2016, his album Christmas was certified six times platinum in Canada.
