Abel Tesfaye, known professionally as The Weeknd, is a Canadian singer-songwriter, record producer, and actor, born on February 16, 1990, in Toronto. He began releasing music anonymously in 2009 and co-founded the record label XO in 2011, releasing his first mixtapes, including House of Balloons. In 2012, he signed with Republic Records and compiled his mixtapes into the album Trilogy. His debut studio album, Kiss Land, was released in 2013. He achieved commercial success with subsequent albums, Beauty Behind the Madness and Starboy, both of which won Grammy Awards. His single Blinding Lights became the most-streamed song of all time on Spotify in 2023.
