The ASD Band

Biography

The ASD Band is a Toronto-based group of musicians on the autism spectrum. Formed in 2019, the band was created after three of its members, Ron Adea, Rawan Tuffaha, and Jackson D. Begley, performed on stage with Roger Hodgson at a World Autism Awareness Day concert. The fourth member, Spenser Murray, was invited to join afterward. Their first live show was initially scheduled for 2020 but was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They recorded several covers of classic pop and rock songs and began writing original music. Their debut EP was released, and they played their first public show in February 2022. The band was featured in the documentary film "Okay!: The ASD Band Film," which premiered at the 2022 Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival and won second place for the Rogers Audience Award.
