Jian Ghomeshi (born June 9, 1967) is a Canadian broadcaster, writer, musician, producer, and former CBC personality. From 1990 to 2000, he was a vocalist and drummer in the folk-pop band Moxy Früvous. In the 2000s, he became a television and radio broadcaster, hosting programs such as CBC Newsworld's Play and CBC Radio One's The National Playlist and Q, which he co-created and hosted until 2014. Ghomeshi was fired by the CBC amid allegations of sexual assault and harassment. In 2018, he published an essay in The New York Review of Books, which faced widespread criticism. Since 2020, he has been the executive producer and host of Roqe, a podcast aimed at the Iranian diaspora.
