Biography
Gary Alan Kulesha (born 22 August 1954) is a Canadian composer, pianist, conductor, and educator. He has been the Composer Advisor to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra since 1995. Kulesha served as Composer-in-Residence with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony from 1988 to 1992 and with the Canadian Opera Company from 1993 to 1995. He was awarded the National Arts Centre Orchestra Composer Award in 2002. Currently, he teaches on the music faculty at the University of Toronto, where his notable students have included Vincent Ho and Abigail Richardson-Schulte. In 2023, he was appointed as a Member of the Order of Canada.
