  • I want to compensate for pirated games, but is it viable?
par /u/dragonfly1717 (Gamers: The best place for gaming news and discussion) in r/gamers

Hello Reddit gamers. I'm 29.5 years old and I live in a 3rd world country, namely Uzbekistan. Throughout my life I've played many games. Almost everyone here pirates games thanks to our big brothers - Russian hackers. It's unbelievable but in my country, hardly anyone knows that games cost money. I mean people can't associate gaming with paying - they think games are free as is. I also thought so until 2-3 years ago, games are products of companies who poured thousands of hours into making them. So I felt bad. Now I have a plan - buy every game I played in my life. So far I've bought Van Helsing: Director's Cut, Saint's Row 3, Regalia: of Men and Monarchs, Serious Sam: Second Encounter HD, Witcher 3. But here's a catch: I'm buying them with huge Steam discounts - at least 75%. So I want to ask, am I doing right? Or should I buy them in full price? In my defense I'd like to add that while an average game costs $25, $140 is an average person's monthly salary in Uzbekistan. submitted by /u/dragonfly1717 [link] [comments]
